NEW BOOK: Doctoral Education in South Africa

Doctoral Education in South Africa was launched alongside the HERANA 3 meeting in Cape Town on 26 November 2015. Teboho Moja, Chair of CHET and Prof. in Education at New York University, delivered the welcoming address. The authors shared their insights on the key findings of the book, and Prof. Daya Reddy, president of the Academy of Science of South Africa, responded with remarks of his own.

A second launch was held at Irene Country Lodge outside Pretoria on 2 December 2015. Dr Thomas Auf der Heyde, Deputy Director-General of the Depart of Science and Technology, delivered a speech on behalf of Minister Naledi Pandor, Minister of Science and Technology. In a subsequent letter to the authors, the Minister stated that she "regards the book ... as an excellent contribution to scholarly work in South Africa and as support for [the country's] ambitions with respect to enhancing human capital development".
