The aim of this particular study is to establish the profile of the 18 to 24 year old cohort of the South African Population in terms of educational attendance, level of education obtained, employment status, occupation, levels of unemployment, and reasons for not working. Towards the conclusion of the analysis an estimate is made of the number of persons within this age cohort who were actually not attending educational institutions, who were not employed at a level appropriate for their level of education, and who were not prevented from working or attending education as a result of severe disability. This will result in the quantification of the number of persons in need of postâ€school education.
