DESCRIPTION
This booklet offers ways in which council meetings can be prepared for, organized, and conducted to extract the maximum benefit for all parties. Suggestions are straightforward and practical and the particular responsibilities of chairpersons, vice-chancellors, secretaries to council and other members are outlined. For those unfamiliar with meeting procedures, the basic protocols are clarified. The aim is to encourage the kind of good practice that can make council meetings effective, and for councils to avoid some of the traps that result from inadequate clarity of purpose, such as confusing governance with management.
